The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Seniors’ Housing Report shows that the overall vacancy rate for standard rentals was 9.7 percent in Atlantic Canada.
Newfoundland and Labrador has the highest vacancy rate at 13-percent while Prince Edward Island had the lowest at 6.2. New Brunswick and Nova Scotia had 7.3 and 7.6-percent respectively.
The report also shows that Nova Scotia has the highest average rent when it comes to seniors’ rental spaces while New Brunswick is on the other end with the lowest.
The average rent for the Atlantic Region is just over $2500.
