2nd Annual Three Father’s Memorial Run To Be Held Sunday

Sunday is Father’s Day, and for hundreds of people in Moncton..the best way to honour their dad is to run.

The second annual Three Father’s Memorial event is planned, in honour of three special dads, three RCMP officers who were killed in the line of duty in Moncton in 2014.

Nadine Larche is this year’s Run President. Her husband Doug, was one of the three officers lost during the June 4th tragedy and she feels this is a special way for her girls to remember their dad, “Something positive for us to do on Father’s Day, because the girls always loved to go and see their Daddy run. They like to participate in in Fun Fundraisers, so I think this is a good fit for us.”

Statues of Doug Larche, Fabrice Gevaudan, and Dave Ross now stand in Honour Garden. Nadine says she slipped last year’s medal from the Three Father’s around the statues neck, because he loved to run.

She says it’s a great way to pay tribute to her husband, “To honour them and be together on a day that is especially difficult for me and the girls. It’s a place for us to be together and feel the support of our friends and family and the community, who have embraced us since this tragedy happened.”

A total of $18,000 is being given to 18 high school graduates; three for each of the six high schools in the region the Codiac RCMP serve. Awarded for leadership, courage and community involvement, the scholarships were created from the funds raised at last year’s run.

There’s still time to participate, click HERE for more information.
