One of New Brunswick’s most popular tourist attractions is getting a boost from the federal and provincial governments.
“Le Pays de la Sagouine” in Bouctouche will be upgraded thanks to almost $600,000 from Ottawa and $100,000 from the province.
Acting Director General Luc LeBlanc says digitizing the play’s production pieces and making infrastructure improvements are among the projects on the agenda.
LeBlanc notes that actress Viola Leger has been playing the role of “la Sagouine” for 40 years and these upgrades will ensure her famous monologues will live on, long after she retires.
