Widow Nadine Larche said she and her daughters had an opportunity to view the complete memorial before the public unveiling.
“Me and my three girls, we walked in there alone, because I wanted to be able to see it by myself and I was overwhelmed with many different emotions,” says Nadine. “Morgan really captured everything that I wanted, it really feels like Doug’s home.”

Nadine says while working with Macdonald did help her bring a little closure the pain is still raw.
“But I have three little girls and that’s what I focus on, I see Doug in them every single day and now having the statue here I’ll have a place to kind of be with Doug, and it’s on the trail, where Doug loved to be,” says Nadine. “I’m so happy with the results of the monument, it’s beautiful.”
Nadine says Morgan captured the likeness of Doug beyond what I expected.
“We provided him different pictures, different angles, he invited us up to the foundry to make sure that what we saw in the pictures was actually reality in the clay before he cast it,” says Nadine.

She emphasized how humble, accommodating and great to work with and really created a statue of what Doug looked like.
