Improper Use Of Vaping Cigarette Deemed Caused Of Special Care Residence Fire

A fire that damaged a special care residence is being classified as accidental.

The Moncton Fire Department is finished its investigation into the cause of the fire at 30 Lockhart Street earlier this week.

While the origin of the fire was immediately clear to be one of the 10 residents’ bedrooms, the cause was only recently announced.

Fire Investigators say improper use of a vaping cigarette started the fire.

They add everyone made it out safely because there were proper detection devices, a fire safety plan, and regular practice of fire drills.

The Fire Department applauded the owners for being so safety conscious.
