Public Invited To Explore New Caledonia Fire Station In Open House Today

The Moncton Fire Department is inviting the public to visit and explore their new fire station on Caledonia Road.

From 10 until noon today, everyone is welcome to see the new $3.2 million state of the art station.

Deputy Fire Chief Don McCabe has previously described this as the “firefighter’s fire station” because it was designed with firefighter input to be as efficient and modern as possible.

It’s energy efficient, which is great for the City budget, but it’s also outfitted with a top notch kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms to keep the firefighters in great condition during their 1 day on 3 day off shifts.

McCabe adds one of the most innovative features is the enormous new heating override system which allows them to get trucks back in service quickly.

The new station is at 80 Caledonia road, just east of the Elmwood Drive, and north of the TCH.
