The Frye Festival is already underway in Moncton even though the official launch is tomorrow.
Executive Director Danielle LeBlanc says the weekend events have been terrific so far, not least because the weather has been cooperating.
LeBlanc says Kids Fest was a huge hit with crafts, games, reading, and therapy dogs followed by the Maillet-Frye Lecture from Franco-Congolese author Alain Mabanckou.
“He talked about literature, and the fluidity of literature and language, and it was so inspiring and so wonderful to be able to hear a novelist and poet of such grandeur talk about those issues,” says LeBlanc.

LeBlanc says last night Cafe Underground, is a highlight of the festival each year showcasing the talent of high school students as they read their prose, poetry and even perform some original songs.
“So we got to really discover the great emerging literary talents of some young people here in Moncton and in Southeastern New Brunswick,” says LeBlanc. “It’s so heartwarming to see what’s coming up, and there’s so much talent, that the literary future of our province and our city is certainly in good hands.”
