Dumont Hospital Breast Health Centre Celebrates One Year Anniversary

Breast health services in Moncton got a great boost a little over a year ago with the opening of the state of the art Breast Health Centre.

Dr. Jocelyne Hebert says some changes have happened since they moved in.

“We’ve made a lot of adjustments in terms of the organization,” says Dr. Hebert. “We’re seeing more and more volume, it has increased in the last year and also the amount of cancers being diagnosed.”

She says most of the work they do is screening.

They come here for their screening mammogram, and that’s why we wanted this centre to be very calm, nice, Zen looking,” says Dr. Hebert. “You’re coming here and you’re not sick, you’re coming here just for your exam.”

Dr. Hebert says of course some patients do get positive tests for cancer.

“They’ll end up having to visit more rooms in the centre, but we are equipped to help them out, we have the staff and the programs to support them,” says Dr. Hebert.

She says overall it’s been a very successful first year for the centre.
