A lot of work from a lot of people helped bring Westjet to Metro Moncton according to the province’s Crown corporation for economic development.
Opportunities New Brunswick CEO Stephen Lund says the airline could have chosen another place to locate but they chose here.
“For companies to be successful here, they first have to pick to come here. Now that they are here and growing, it is up to all of us to ensure they are a success story,” he notes.
Lund says luring a successful company like Westjet could be just the tip of the iceberg.
The provincial agency is providing Westjet with $3.5 million in incentives to create 400 bilingual jobs which will be mainly home-based contact positions in the region.
