Dolma Food Owner Hopes To Be Rebuild By Late Fall

Plans are underway to build a new Dolma Food, in the same spot where it previously stood before fire destroyed the store in January.

Owner Hossein Barar doesn’t expect they will reopen there until late Fall, “I am talking with Contractors, and hopefully we will start planning with the City. We’ll see how fast we can go. Hopefully we can move back by late fall.”

One of the things that will be included is the cornerstone that was salvaged from the debris. It was a part of the original building.

It was also believed that there may be a time capsule inside. He says, “The city is going to make a decision as to whether they want to open it or leave it intact.”

In the meantime, Barar has opened a temporary Dolma Food location at 110 St. George Street, just a few blocks from the old location. He says it a a little smaller, but they are carrying most of the same local foods.
