Since the end of December, Metro Moncton has welcomed 315 Syrian refugees.
In an effort to integrate these families into the community, there is still an urgent need for volunteers and donations.
The City of Moncton and MAGMA, the Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area, have asked for a pause in welcoming new immigrants so that they can properly manage those who are already here.
In terms of stats, the city says the average Syrian is 15 years old and the average Syrian family has between 4 and 6 children.
112 of those children are now registered in schools in the region.
For those who want to help out as interpreters or in other ways, you’re asked to get in touch with the Volunteer Centre of Southeast New Brunswick.
The donations depot is still open six days a week at 50 MacNaughton Avenue in the Caledonia Park
