Atlantic Canadians Still Pessimistic About Economy

According to the Conference Board of Canada, consumer confidence in the Atlantic region continued to drop in February even though the feeling about job market prospects rebounded with the vast majority of those surveyed still expecting the job market to remain stable.

Still, more people expect layoffs to increase compared to November’s low point.

Sentiment about making a major purchase dropped due to the continued rise in pessimism. Most households in the Atlantic region believe now is not a good time to make a major purchase.
