Man Sentenced To Jail Time For Manslaughter

A 20 year old man has been sentenced to time behind bars for his role in the death of another man.

Jérémie Brideau appeared in Bathurst Court yesterday, and was handed a sentence of three years in jail, minus time already served.

Brideau previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of 48-year-old Elden Basque.

RCMP were called to a home in Leech, near Tracadie Sheila in June last year, where Basque had been assaulted and was found unconscious. He was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Brideau was arrested the same day.

In addition to jail time, Brideau is also subject to two years of probation with conditions following his release.
