Former Health Minister Ted Flemming, the M-L-A for Rothesay, wants to know why the provincial government is changing the Extra-Mural Programme.
The provincial government is proposing Extra Mural, Ambulance NB and Tele-Care 811 be managed by Medavie EMS but Flemminhg says he goes by the old adage that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau says the change isn’t mean’t to disparage Extra-Mural care but it can be improved and he points to a pair of surveys conducted by the New Brunswick Health Council in 2012 and 2015.
Flemming calls Extra Mural a jewel of healthcare and warns against centralising services.
