Motion For Injunction Against Pipeline By The Quebec Government Baffles TransCanada

TransCanada doesn’t expect the motion for an injunction against the Energy East pipeline by the Quebec government to cause any delay in the project.

Spokesperson Tim Duboyce says he’s baffled by the motion.

He says in June, the Minister of Environment in Quebec ordered a full environment review process for the Energy East Project and the public hearing part of that process is set to start on Monday.

Duboyce says the Quebec government could have used the environmental review during the Energy East National Energy Board hearings when they take place.

He says seven months ago, that was the signal TransCanada was getting from the Quebec government, and now the signal is different.

Duboyce says there’s a difference with opinion right now, in terms of where provincial and federal powers overlap.
