Much To Approve Of In Report From Commission On Shale Gas

There is much to like in the report from the Commission of Shale Gas.

That’s from New Brunswick Anti Shale Gas Alliance spokesperson Jim Emberger who says the world is finally taking climate change seriously, and increasing fossil fuel use makes no sense.

“Investments in renewables are way up, investments in fossil fuels are way down,” says Emberger. “The fossil fuel industry, especially shale gas and shale oil are heavily into bankruptcy these days, the lowest prices in history.”

Emberger says fossil fuels are the technology of the last century, and it’s time to look to the future.

He says we should go straight from fossil fuel reliance to renewables, without the middle man of shale gas.

“I think that the Commission report certainly strongly suggests that,” says Emberger. “I mean they don’t make specific recommendations about promoting one thing over the other they were just putting out the facts and that’s just one of the facts they talk about.”

Emberger says it was refreshing to see the Commission look at Shale Gas in the wider context of climate change and future energy use, especially after the signing of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
