Donation Of Digital Cameras Needed For Syrian Refugee Photography Program

Cameras are needed for Syrian youth in Fredericton.

Art Reach and Program Developer at The Charlotte Street Arts Centre Kaylee Stevens says they’re looking for donations of digital cameras, for a new program, “We’re embarking on a photography class with the Syrian youth and trying to get them involved in the community, looking at their heritage and the cultural heritage of the city and the people around them.”

Stephens says they’ll be working with photography Professors who will come in and teach the students the basics and then they’ll encourage the youth to be doing portraits or landscaping photos.

She says Fredericton currently has around 300 Syrians, and it has been amazing meeting the children and seeing their excitement for learning new things.
