The Principal at Bessborough School is thrilled with the news this week, that the provincial government will spend $75, 000 for a study that will look at mid-life upgrades for the school.
Nick Mattatall says the hope is to complete work needed to keep the school going for at least another 30 years, “They’ll do a whole scope analysis of our school to determine what upgrades are needed to be able to extend the life of the school approximately 25 to 30 years. It will mean some internal and external renovations to the school which will be a beautiful facelift for our building.”
He says, “We just had our bathrooms upgraded which was a huge project and greatly received by the kids, teachers and the community. We’ve had some recent fire upgrades, so this is the next step to having a new building within the original footprint.”
The government has also announced a $500, 000 upgrade, that will be used to replace the windows and doors at the school, and look at the brick structure.
The mid-life upgrade study will be done during the 2016-2017 fiscal year, which starts after April 1st.
