Some air travellers in Southeast New Brunswick may take road trips to save money instead of flying out of the Greater Moncton International Airport.
Halifax tends to be a popular choice and even Bangor, Maine is sometimes selected.
GMIA president Bernard LeBlanc says it’s tough to lose passengers but the only thing to do is tout the benefits of the airport.
“For example, having the sun destinations… giving 14 options per week is a great way to do that,” he notes.
Convenience is another factor with LeBlanc noting a long drive in a snowstorm to get home after a flight may not be for everyone.
