The Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency spent some time in Moncton this morning with a committment to invest up to $12.6 million for six projects across Atlantic Canada.
That includes over $900, 000 for Jiffy Products in Shippagan, New Brunswick, a company that manufactures horticultural products.
Navdeep Bains also made reference to some of the accomplishments made during yesterday’s meetings between the Federal Ministers and the four Premiers in Atlantic Canada, “We talked about innovation, infrastructure, immigration, tourism and so today is just an extension of those discussions and making some very important announcements to really help stimulate the economy and create jobs.”
Government House Leader Dominic Leblanc says a one size fits all approach doesn’t necesarily work in infrastructure funding because all areas have different needs. He says he is excited for the number of future projects that will be announced across the country including several in New Brunswick, “You’ll see a whole series of worthy projects across the country and Ginette and I have a whole list in our headsof ones for New Brunswick. We have a federal government that is going to find a way to make a lot of those possible, with the co-operation of municipalities and the province.”
MP for Moncton-Riverview Dieppe Ginette Petitpas-Taylor says she has several projects in mind for her riding, “We all have local priorities and we are all working very hard to ensure those become a reality.”
