Green Party Says NB Budget Contains Nothing For Less Vulnerable

The leader of the provincial Green Party says the budget doesn’t contain anything for those who are most vulnerable in New Brunswick.

David Coon says he’s disappointed that low-income residents will see few benefits.

“There’s nothing there for people living in poverty for increasing their income, there’s nothing there for seniors and there’s nothing there for those trying to access the mental health care system,” he notes.

Coon says he’s puzzled over why the budget contained no mention about affordable housing given the long waiting list for subsidized units.

He also calls it a devastating day for the civil service and he fails to find the logic in outsourcing public jobs to private companies.
