Local Cable Technician Helping Syrian Refugees Settle

Many Syrian families are now calling Greater Moncton home.

A local Cable Technician says he has had the pleasure of meeting them.

As someone who works in Customer Service, TC Jenicek meets a lot of people on the job.

He says over the past month, he has been to the homes of Syrian refugee families who are just getting comfortable in their new homes.

Communication is a bit of an issue, because many of them are still learning the language but he has learned that their customs are much different than ours.

“I cannot shake the hand of a lady and the gentleman can’t shake the hand of a man,” says Jenicek. “Things that are very common for us become no-nos.”

He says they all have so little but they are grateful for what they do have in their new homes.

Jenicek is asking for donations of old landline telephones for the refugee families.
