A group of citizens are hoping to create a new active living space for the public.
The practice field for the old Moncton High has been sitting vacant since the new school opened last year, in the Royal Oaks neighbourhood.
Spokesperson for the Midtown Moncton Committee Mark Higgins says it could now be used for public activities such as sports, exercise or family events, “We’ve been talking to our MLA Chris Collins and he is very encouraging on having the ownership transferred to make it more of a community resource for everyone.”
The land is currently owned by the province of New Brunswick, but Higgins says the City of Moncton has made an official request to have ownership transferred.
