Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc Will Not Seek Re-Election

After devoting the better part of two decades to public service, Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc will not be running for re-election this May.

In a press release issued earlier today, he says residents, Council and City staff have overcome many challenges and experience tremendous highs as well as dark moments.

Through it all, he says the spirit of Monctonians lifted him and carried the community through to the other side.

He says in order to keep Moncton energetic and fresh, it is necessary to have a change in leadership from time to time and after 8 years as mayor that time has come.

LeBlanc will use his now free time to catch up with his wife, children and grandchildren and return to his law practice full time.
