Oil Leaks Into St. John River

A valve that malfunctioned earlier this week at the Mactaquac Generating Station has been repaired but not before about 3,180 liters or 700 gallons of non-hazardous, biodegradable lubricating oil leaked into the St. John River.

Some of the oil was contained on the site and collected Tuesday night. The remainder is being recovered from the river by a licensed cleanup contractor.
