Dennis Oland has been found guilty of second degree murder in the death of his father Richard in July of 2011.
The jury began its deliberations on Wednesday afternoon and continued for approximately thirty hours.
The body of Richard Oland was found in his Canterbury Street office in uptown Saint John on July 7th of 2011.
He had been bludgeoned to death.
Oland is described in the courtroom as being inconsolable and doubled over. His wife Lisa, left the courtroom.
Derek Oland has released a statement saying the family is disappointed and dismayed by the outcome of the trial and believe Dennis is innocent.
The statement goes on to say the family will support him and his family members through the course of whatever legal actions will unfold.
They add they are certain Dennis had nothing to do with the death of his father and have faith the process of law will eventually find Dennis innocent.
