An absolutely heartbreaking sight for the Greater Moncton SPCA this week.
A 12 year old dog was surrendered by her Owner, due the age of the animal and health issues.
Executive Director Karen Nelson says Lucy’s fur was severely matted and it was one of the worst cases she has ever seen, “There are all kinds of infections from the matting. She has an ear infections and other infections on her poor little body.”
Once Lucy’s matted fur was shaved, she was eight pounds lighter.
She says Lucy has a long road to recovery.
A follow up is being done with the New Brunswick SPCA and an investigation is pending.
Nelson says the Greater Moncton SPCA sees cases like this far too often.
