More than 1,000 people paid their respects at the cenotaph in Moncton’s Sunnybrae neighbourhood on this Remembrance Day.
91-year-old Murray Rogers is one of two living veterans from the Second World War from the Sunnybrae Legion.
Rogers trained in Scotland and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, and the former Czechoslovakia.
Rogers says he was very grateful to be able to return home unlike many of his friends who died during the war in Europe.
“We recognize the boys that gave everything, that gave their life and how great it is for them.”
He says, “The good Lord looked after me, and I came back, and I’m very grateful for that.”
