More and more people in New Brunswick were spending on credit and debit cards in July and August this year, that according to the quarterly report from Moneris Solutions.
Chief Product and Marketing Officer Rob Cameron says consumer spending rose 8.38 per cent in this province, but things have also been positive all year.
He says, “From 2013 to 2014, things were pretty flat in New Brunswick but this year things are looking up, and I think it shows consumer confidence.”
He says it appears in New Brunswick, people were spending more on groceries and restaurants, but they weren’t going out to as many entertainment establishments.
Across the country consumer spending was up almost 7 per cent in July and August this year.
