A big donation from one of the big banks will help fill in the gaps of the Trans Canada Trail in New Brunswick.
Scotiabank has announced a $500, 000 donation which will help complete a large section of trail from the City of Dieppe to the Confederation Bridge.
The Government of Canada is also contributing another $250, 000.
Trail construction will take place along historic dyke lands adjacent to the Petitcodiac River as well as sections from Saint-Joseph to Dorchester and Sackville to both Cape Jourimain and Cape Tormentine.
Officials say the goal is to complete the Trans Canada Trail from the Atlantic to the Pacific and to the Arctic by 2017 – Canada’s 150th birthday.
