New Hotel Planned For Dieppe

A group of local investors have unveiled plans to build a new hotel in downtown Dieppe.

The Wingate by Wyndham Hotel will be built next the Farmer’s Market overlooking Place 1604.

Dieppe Mayor Yvon Lapierre says the new hotel will help fill a gap which was left when the Ramada shut down.

“We were crying a little bit about the loss of the Ramada which housed a lot of conventions and events. But I was very confident. I think my confidence has now been fulfilled,” Lapierre noted.

The 80-room hotel will offer convention space, a heated pool and underground parking and is expected to employ about 40 people full-time.

Construction is expected to begin early next year with a completion date by the spring of 2017.
