Residents in Mayfield, outside of St. Stephen, have been told to stay in their homes as a stand-off with police continues.
West District RCMP were called to a home around 3:15 yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, with a report of a shot fired.
The shot was fired when the fire department responded to a vehicle fire at the home.
Later in the evening, more shots were fired towards police, with at least one bullet striking the RCMP’s Tactical Armoured Vehicle. No injuries have been reported.
Police tell us a 34 year old man has barricaded himself inside the home, they believe he is alone.
Route 735 in Mayfield is closed to traffic from Barter’s Settlement to Pomeroy Ridge while the incident is ongoing.
