It’s Election Day!

After a 78 day election campaign, the big day is finally here.

Today is election day across the country, with millions of Canadians casting their ballot in support of their political party.

Francoise Enguehard is a media advisor with Elections Canada. She says it’s important to make sure you have the appropriate Identification when you go to vote, either a driver’s license, because it is a government issued identification.

If you do not have a driver’s license, then you need two pieces of ID.

Both must have your name on it, and one must have your address on it, for example a health card and utility bill.

Polls are open for twelve hours, starting at 8:30am, and they close at 8:30pm.

For a full list of acceptable ID and other voting rules, visit Elections Canada

We will have full local coverage of the federal election on 91.9 The Bend starting at 9pm tonight, with updates every half hour.
