Local Groups Continue To Hope For More Help For The Poor

More and more people are living in poverty, and something needs to be done, that according to the Common Front for Social Justice.

Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Member of the Common Front Aurea Cormier says there are a few areas she would like to see improvements in.

She says, “Where minimum wage is, I’d like to see single moms with more help, especially in daycare. I’d like to see much more money transferred from the federal govenrment.”

Cormier says New Brunswick currently has a poverty reduction plan, but she would like to see one created nationally as well.

The Common Front is holding an awareness march and presentation this afternoon in Moncton.

It starts at Riverfront Park at 3:30pm.
