The big jobs announcement in Moncton is being criticised by Provincial NDP leader Dominic Cardy.
A Las Vegas based company, B-M-M Testlabs, is expected to create a thousand jobs over the next 5 years and will receive 20 thousand dollars a job in taxpayer money.
Judging from past experience, Cardy wonders how longlasting these jobs will be. Cardy claims over a billion dollars was handed out to companies between 1996 and 2010 which didn’t result in the creation or retention of a single job.
As for the jobs in Moncton, Cardy says they will have to be in place for over 7 years for the government to earn a return on its investment and there’s no guarantee that’s going to happen.
