“Vote Void” or “Vote Blank” election campaign signs are now appearing throughout Metro Moncton.
A Mount Allison University professor says this has been a growing movement across Canada which has made its way to New Brunswick.
Assistant politics professor Mario Levesque says this actually gives voters another option if they don’t like the current choices on the ballot.
“So you’re basically registering the fact that you are voting, you have an interest in politics, you follow the issues but you are very dissatisfied with the choices that our political leaders are giving us… so you want change.”
In last year’s Ontario provincial election, Levesque says a “none of the above” box was included on the ballot – something he says should be on every election ballot.
