100 Year Old Temperature Record Broken In Metro Moncton

You may have done a doubletake when checking the date yesterday. We hit a high of 29.4 degrees in Metro Moncton, breaking a 100 year old record from 1915 of 27.8 degrees.

That’s not what you would expect for September.

Other temperature records were broken across the province yesterday, that includes in Bouctouche, Fredericton and Alma.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Claude Cote says today will be another warm one, with a high of 29. He is uncertain as to whether or not we’ll break records again today. Cote says the previous record was 30.6 set in 1942.

Temperatures are expected to return to seasonable values by Sunday. We could see them drop by around 6 degrees and that will continue into next week.
