Oland Trial Begins Today

More than four years after Richard Oland’s death, his son’s trial on a charge of second degree murder gets started today.

Dennis Oland plead not guilty to the charge during the jury selection phase last week.

He’s accused in his father’s death in July 2011. Richard Oland’s body was found in his office on Canterbury Street.

After being indentified by Saint John police as the prime suspect, Dennis Oland was charged in the crime less than two years ago.

In November of 2013, the family of Dennis Oland released a statement saying they believe he will be found innocent and how they want police to find the person who is really responsible for Richard Oland’s death.

65 days have been set for Dennis Oland’s trial which begins today at the Saint John Law Courts building.
