Metro Moncton Marks World Suicide Prevention Day

More Canadians die each year by suicide than car crashes.

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and to mark the occassion, the Westmorland-Albert Suicide Prevention Committee has an event planned in Centennial Park.

Robyn Greene, co-chairs the Westmoreland-Albert group, says suicide is not an easy thing to talk about which is what the day is all about.

“To raise awareness about depression and suicide and it’s also to provide comfort and assistance to those who have lost someone to suicide,” she notes.

The committee is holding an event at the Rotary Lodge in Centennial Park starting at 6-pm with a meet and greet, guest speakers and a candlelight walk along the trails.
