Statistics Canada reporting employment in New Brunswick increased by 24 hundred in August, pushing the provincial unemployment rate down by almost 1 per cent to 10.1%. Compared with August of last year, employment in the province is little changed.
In Saint John, the unemployment rate rose from 8.2 to 8.7 per cent while in Moncton, there was a decline from 8 to 7.6 per cent.
For women aged 55 and older, employment across the country increased by 29,000 in August.
The national unemployment rate rose to 7 per cent in spite of 12 thousand new jobs because more people were looking for work.
