UPDATE: 28 Year Old PEI Man Charged After Incident On Confederation Bridge Early This Morning

A 28 year old man has been arrested and charged after a strange incident on the Confederation Bridge today.

Scott Alexander MacNally from Borden-Carleton, in PEI faces seven charges including being criminally negligent in the operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, flight from police, and theft of a vehicle.

Just before 6 this morning, RCMP received reports of a man who was considering jumping off the bridge.

While bridge officials did convince the man to get into their truck, when an RCMP officer came near MacNally jumped in the drivers seat and took off heading towards New Brunswick.

In the process, he hit two other vehicles, and dragged an officer a considerable distance.

The officer is in hospital with serious injuries but he should recover.

RCMP closed the bridge during the incident, delaying hundreds of vehicles before finally reopening it around 10 this morning.
