A conservation group watching over Atlantic salmon is keeping a close eye on a situation in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Atlantic Salmon Federation is concerned over hundreds of salmon trapped in Rocky River in Colinet.
The fish are stuck because of construction on a new fish ladder.
It’s estimated 450 salmon can’t move upstream to spawn.
The federation is worried the fish are going to fall prey to seals as they are easy targets.
DFO is working to trap and move the salmon.
However, the ASF believes they should have been moved before work started on the fish ladder.
