Another Close Call For Metro Moncton First Responders

For the second time this week in Metro Moncton, a motorist has reportedly been involved in an accident with emergency responders.

Codiac RCMP say an officer suffered minor injuries Wedensday afternoon after being struck by a car near the Moncton Hospital and the police cruiser had lights and sirens activated at the time.

Dieppe Fire Division Chief Marc Cormier says these types of incidents are happening far too often.

“For some reason, it’s a daily problem for emergency workers. We hope that by doing these interviews and by using social media that drivers slow down when they see first responders on the scenes of accidents,” Cormier notes.

Dieppe firefighters also had a close call early Wednesday responding to a rollover on the Trans-Canada Highway when an 18-wheeler rear-ended a fire engine.
