Since May of last year, 20 cases of rabies have been confirmed in raccoons and skunks in the Charlotte County area.
As such, 600 thousand dollars is being spent by the province this year to control the spread of rabies in Charlotte County.
An aerial bait drop will take place, if the weather co-operates, from August 21st to the 23rd. Exposure to the bait is not harmful to people or pets.
Bait will be dropped containing a rabies vaccine. When eaten by raccoons and skunks, they become vaccinated against rabies. The vaccine is designed for wildlife, not dogs, cats or livestock and is not harmful to people or pets.
