Over the long weekend, the RCMP will be out in full force participating in Operation Dry Water, a national awareness and enforcement campaign promoting safe boating.
Statistics show that approximately 40% of boating fatalities involve alcohol.
The goal of the campaign is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related collisions.
RCMP remind the public that operating a boat while impaired will net you the same penalties and fines as driving a motor vehicle while under the influence.
