Sharp Rise In Thefts From Vehicles In Metro Moncton

Since the beginning of summer, Codiac RCMP have noticed a sharp rise in the number of vehicle thefts in Metro Moncton.

Police have responded to at least 97 thefts from vehicles this month alone with cash, purses, wallets and electronics stolen.

Staff Sargeant Eric Larose says thefts have been spread throughout virtually all areas of the tri-communities.

In connection with several thefts, police have charged 42-year-old Michael Daniel “Tinker” Gallant with possession of stolen property.

However, Codiac RCMP say they believe more than one individual is responsible for the rash of vehicle break-ins.

If anyone has information, contact Codiac RCMP at 506-857-2400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
