National Literacy Rates Linked To Overall Productivity

Countries with high literacy rates have been linked to having high overall productivity.

Frank Hayes is the President of the Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick, he tells us that Canada ranked just out of the top 10 countries in the world.

Hayes says Singapore leads the world in math and science literacy and also leads the world in productivity.

Other countries that ranked high in both literacy and productivity include China, Japan and South Korea.

Hayes says Premier Brian Gallant recognizes the connection between literacy and productivity and his vocal point is to increase literacy to enhance the skills of Canadians.
