The Georges Dumont Hospital has received a $15.6 million funding boost from the provincial government to continue work on its new surgical suite.
The investment will be used for phase two of the project which consists of foundation and structure work.
Construction began last month and will continue until November 2016.
The expansion will include a new surgical suite, recovery room, day surgery unit, intensive care unit along with physiotherapy and occupational therapy units.
The project will add a single-storey and a basement totaling more than 113,000 square feet along with renovations to the north end of the hospital.
