NB Exotic Animals Task Force Unveils 29 Recommedations

There will be a different approach when it comes to Exotic Animals in New Brunswick.

Today , the Department of Natural Resources of New Brunswick was presented with 29 different recommendations by the Exotic Animals Task Force.

Task force chair and manager of the Magnetic Hill Zoo in Moncton, Bruce Dougan, believes the report will help strengthen existing laws and regulations for the province and thanked the Task Force Committee for their invaluable input and advice on the matter.

He feels this will be a learning curve for the general public when it comes to Exotic Animals in New Brunswick.

Dougan says forming an implementation committee is key to facilitate the recommendations made.

Natural Resources Minister Denis Landry thanked the task force for their hard work and dedication on this matter and is looking forward to implementing their recommendations.

The task force was formed following the deaths of Noah and Connor Barthe, aged 4 and 6 years old, who were killed by an African rock python in an apartment above a pet store in Campbellton almost two years ago.
