If you spot a dragon in Jones Lake over the next couple of days, don’t panic.
It may just be the head of a boat.
The 10th annual Dragon Boat Festival is set to begin tonight.
Co-Chair for the event Carole Murphy says over 35 teams are taking part.
She says it’s great to see the practice nights when the new teams are hitting the lake and they’re a little nervous, then they get the rhythm of it and the competition comes alive.
Seventeen high school teams will hit the lake late this afternoon, and then it’s the community and corporate teams tomorrow.
Most of the money goes to the Lions Sick Kids Funds Charity, but each team can also designate some of the money raise to a charity of their choice.
